#12772 The Prime Series Theory

Posted by Conglometroid on 27 March 2010 - 03:49 PM

Spoilers for the Prime Subseries follow. Metroid is a series that tends to leave the story and details for personal interpretation, but as we found out with the Prime subseries, sometimes this can get out of hand, creating way too many unexplained plot holes and weakening the games. In light of this, I was thinking in [...]

#12769 The Secret Evolution

Posted by Conglometroid on 27 March 2010 - 03:49 PM

The small, fanged, jellyfish-like creature called a metroid is a well known enemy in the game franchise which bears its name. However, what many people do not know is that this small creature is only a baby: metroids evolve. With the exception of a brief appearance in Metroid Fusion, the evolved forms of the metroid [...]

#12715 Hello,

Holy mother of [deity], it's a Chozo! I thought they were entirely extinct, that they had vanished from the terrestrial plains and entered an etherial state of perfection... could this be true? Could we trust this odd mirage? What holy message could such an otherworldly being give us in such times of distress in these times of crisis? Welcome back though, to the land of white plains and blue hills marked with the typography of an ever-present admin. Let us fill in this emptiness with invigorating and mind-boggling thoughts, shall we? To start, let us address an important question, mysterious Chozo visitor:

How's life been dude?

#12671 Metroid: Other M

Okay the whole pointing at the screen to go into first person mode is awesome, but you can't move? And that's the only mode you can use missiles in?!?! The ######? That sounds wonky as hell.

I just now saw a video of the game's intro. It's quite impressive. Can't upload it since NOA is going around taking them down and this site could get in trouble because of that, but I can describe it...

Spoiler

So yeah, Samus will DEFINITELY speak in this game. I must say, Sammy's monologue are quite monotonous and bored sounding... Just thought I should throw that in there.

Edited to hide it in case someone doesn't want to get spoiled.

#12630 Puzzles

Posted by Jayon on 06 January 2010 - 10:40 PM

This topic is for all kinds of puzzles. There are no specific rules for what the puzzle should be, but I do have one requirement: the puzzle should have an actual logical answer. In other words, this is not for those riddles that are just word games. I also request that if you have the solution to a puzzle, that you give that answer as a spoiler. That way, anyone else who wants to figure out the puzzle can work on it without having the answer given away.

Here's my first puzzle. It takes a set of four shapes and puts them together to form a right triangle. The four pieces are then re-arranged, forming another right triangle with the same length and height, but the new triangle has a hole in it. How is this possible? Here is the graphic:

#12613 Game Ideas

Posted by Jayon on 30 December 2009 - 02:25 PM

I'm not sure about you guys, but over the years I've thought about many ideas for different video games that I'd love to get to play. Of course, I don't have the resources to create them, and the chances that they'll ever really be produced are slim to none. This topic is for all of those ideas that you think could make a great game (or game series), but which will never become a reality.

Note that the intention is not to actually make or develop these games, it's just to throw out ideas, however simple or detailed. Refining ideas would be great, but there is no plan to actually make these.

To start off, I'll give an example of a game inspired by Cold Play's "Viva La Vida" (). The main character starts out as the ruler of a nation who has just come to power. The player then has to govern and manage the country as its new ruler; they can choose their style of government, weather it be by generosity and fair law, or the heavy-handed style of dictatorship. At the same time, there is one or more neighbor kingdoms which are also growing in power, and this nation has an ambitions ruler (based off the Roman nation, though not necessarily an exact copy). The player can choose to invade the opposing country or to defend his own, to encourage peace talks or to seek out enemy spies. Eventually though, no matter what the player does, the game will come to a war, and one way or another the player will lose his title as the ruler of the nation. The player then has to escape, and go into hiding. The objective of the game is to ultimately regain your seat as the ruler of the kingdom, and to overthrow those forces which originally stole your throne. How easy it is to re-win your kingdom will depend largely on what you did when you were still the ruler; if you ruled fairly, you will have the support of much of the populace as you work to overthrow the invaders. However, if you were a cruel ruler, your subjects will have probably revolted, siding with the enemy and making it nearly impossible to regain your lost throne.

Being stuck to the tracks also indicate that you can't go back, logically, and look back at the bifurcation you didn't take to see what was it about.

Depending on the tracks you set your train to run through, you might find cities, more coal, a new engine, new passengers, or on the other hand, maybe badly built tracks that lead to bumpy roads and eventual derailment. There are all simple metaphors, but I think you get what each of these mean in real life.

#12337 Welcome to the Metroid Network

Your posting info is still in the Conglometroid Metroid Network section, Chris.

And I don't know how you're planning to do the "Metroid link hub", but I sense a lack of emphasis on that portion of the project from what I can see in the main site, and I tell you this because I think it's pretty much the most important part of Conglometroid, what sets this project apart from what we had done before. Can you give us an insight as to how the hub will work?
