About RE5 I love the fact that it is in an african country, not because of the rasicm or anyhting, just because its in a desert like place with no gothic buildings but little shanty houses, feel me?

The only one that has ever actually made actually terrified to the point that I wanted to turn the game off was REmake. All the rest just gave me a few jumps.

...No, the movies have absolutely nothing to do with the games which are the real thing and are a completely seperate universe all together.

 

Here, let me give you a run down. First off, the Las Plagas (as far as we know) have absolutely nothing to do with anything else in the series.

 

It all started when the founders of Umbrella (James Marcus, Edward Ashford, and Ozwell Spencer) founded the Progenitor Virus (which RE0 partly deals with and what RE5 will deal with) to make bio-organic weapons (B.O.W.s) to sell to the military. What would happen is the virus would combine with a host mutating it so as to be a more efficient killer. Unfortunately the virus wasn't as successful as they hoped and they founded the Umbrella Corporation with the facate of selling drugs and medical supplies the world over in attempts to research more mutagenic viral agents to create bio-weapons. William Birkin (or was it Marcus...I think it was Birkin) was sent to Africa to research the Ebola Virus (a real life virus that causes...well research it, me's not going to explain it here, all you need to know for RE is that one of its effects is making the host more sensitive to light) and brought it back to the Arklay mountains Umbrella Training facility near Raccoon City where Marcus was attempting to make a better virus for creating bio-weapons. After mixing the Ebola with the Progenitor Marcus fused the new strand of the Progenitor Virus with leech DNA creating the Tyrant Virus (T-virus for short). Seeing this newfound potential Spencer had Wesker and Birkin (two leading researchers of Umbrella) assassinate Marcus and take over his work (not noticing the Queen Leech going into his body after he was shot which would recreate him over time).

 

The T-virus had been created to make far superior bio-weapons to the Progenitor Virus and as such the main specimen the virus was to create is what the virus was named after. The Tyrant, the pinacle of biological weaponry for its time. The Tyrant was designed to be a super soldier which would bring much quicker end to opponents due to its resistance to firepower and increased musculatory system. Unfortunately only a small percentage of people could become Tyrants (and that's even after being put into cryogenic sleep to bond with the virus). Astoundingly the Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service (UBCS) leader Sergei Vladmir was a match with the qualifications of becoming a tyrant and so, instead of simply wasting him, they created ten clones of him after two earlier tyrants had been created in the Research Facility and Training Facility of the Arklay Mountains to more easily create Tyrants.

 

The initial two Tyrants had not been enough however, as there were still glaring flaws in their design, and so Birkin and Wesker were asigned with creating a better virus after taking over Marcus's work while the European branch of the corporation attempted to advance on their side. Enter Alexia Ashford, child prodigey of Umbrella whom graduated from college at the age of ten and became the youngest Chief Researcher of Umbrella ever. This newly found researcher who was the "daughter" of Edward Ashford sparked a rivalry in Birkin as they both sought to create better viruses. While Birkin worked in America, Alexia created the T-Veronica Virus (a virus which allows better bonded hosts control less bonded hosts telepathically and allow the host to project combustable blood from themself) by combining the T-virus with the Ancient Virus found in ants and, upon learning about how she and her brother were "born" (they were clones of their dad) used him as the first true test subject for the virus. Seeing the potential in the T-Veronica Virus, Alexia decided to use herself as the next test subject putting herself into cryogenic sleep with the virus for fifteen years and leaving her mentally unstable brother to take charge in her absense.

 

 

Remembering the daughter of the architecht of the Research Facility in the Arklay Mountains which Umbrella had imprisoned along with the rest of her family after the mansion the research facility was hidden in was built, Lisa Trevor, Birkin and Wesker obtained samples of the Progenitor Virus and infused the B-type version into her (while her mom was infused with the A-type) into her. Almost immediately her mental and physical state began to show signs of mutation and she began to always stay with her mother (eventually killing her by ripping off her face thinking she was an impostor before constantly hoping for her return not realizing she was dead wearing the face as a mask until her mother returned to take it back). Strangely, she gained an unnatural immunity for the other viruses which were injected into her afterwards it seemed being far less fortunate than her fellow test subjects who were granted death in the end. Finally Wesker and Birkin obtained a sample of the Nemesis Parasite from the European branch (whom had been trying to improve Tyrant intelligence through parasites while the American branch worked to improve physical prowess (and secretly intelligence through technological means)) and injected it into her. Unbelievably, her body not only absorbed the specimen but also adapted to it with her blood mutating into a primitive form of the G-virus, Birkin's answer to Alexia's T-Veronica Virus, basically making her immortal.

 

After the G-virus was extracted Umbrella lost interest in Lisa and had her "slain" (not realizing she could now not be killed leaving her to wander off into the woods after disposing of her and taking up residence in an abandoned nearby cabin). The G-virus was planned to be used to make superior bio-weapons to the T-virus which would continually mutate to adapt to the situations and environments they were placed in essentially making them immortal. As Birkin began finishing the G-virus the Queen Leech finished reviving Marcus who launched an assault of his leeches on the Training Facility, an Umbrella train in the woods, and the Research facility causing a disastrous outbreak. Immediately Wesker sent off the Bravo team of Special Tatics and Rescue Squad (S.T.A.R.S.) into the woods to investigate viewing their progress with Birkin from cameras. After the surviving member, Rebecca Chambers, helped do away with the revived Marcus she ventured to the Research Facility and met up with Alpha Team whom Wesker had also dispatched (this time to collect combat data on the Tyrant there for a corporation he was planning to leave Umbrella for (as was Birkin who ended up staying to finish the G-virus)). Finally the survivors (Chris, Jill, Barry, and Rebecca) met up with Wesker in the labs of the facility where he unleashed the Tyrant which skewered him. Before he had left Birkin however, Birkin gave Wesker a virus which Umbrella had been using on storage specimens which had a 70% chance of bringing the host back to life with enhanced musculatory and nervous systems. As planned, Wesker was ressurected as essentially a super human and made his escape as the self destruct sequence of the mansion he had set off began counting down (after checking the computers for the T.A.L.O.S. Tyrant data only to find the Sergei (whom had stopped him at the Training Facility before he came to the Research Facility) had had the Red Queen database of Umbrella lock him out of gaining any information on the specimen and made of with the body of T.A.L.O.S. himself). After pinning Lisa beneath a chandelier he escaped the mansion as it exploded behind him. His plans ruined he vowed vengance on S.T.A.R.S. and would take out anything that got in his way from then on out.

 

Two months later on September 22nd, 1998 the incident which would make Umbrella infamous to the public began. Fearing Birkin's inentions Umbrella had its USFU team (led by agent HUNK) attempt to extract the G-virus from Birkin's possession from his labs in the sewers of Raccoon City. Refusing to give up the G-virus he was fatally shot leaving the group to take the G-virus as well as some samples of the T-virus. With the sample of the G-virus Birkin kept in his hand he injected himself in a desperate attempt to stay alive. The action turned him into an ever mutating creature which became basically immortal due to its adaptation to the environment and damage inflicted on it (though more radical mutations than Lisa since he hadn't grown with the virus in him) and he soon slayed the group (other than HUNK who was knocked unconcious in the sewers. Upon their demise Birkin devoured the G-virus samples they had and smashed the T-virus ones allowing the rats of the sewers to injest the remains and pass it on to the rest of the city.

 

By September 28, 1998 the city is overun with zombies and biological weapons that have escape from laboratories in hospitals and other hidden facilities. S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine starts her escape from the city with the European branch sending in a T-103 Tyrant with the NE-T Parasite infused into it, Nemesis, to hunt down S.T.A.R.S. members and kill them so they don't reveal Umbrella to the public (it kills Brad Vickers, the pilot for the Alpha Team). Jill then meets up with UBSC member Carlos who explains they're just hired hands trying to get civilians out with the leader of the group being Nicholai. Jill and Carlos (after the other members of the group have seemingly been killed) eventually make it to a clock tower to signal a helicopter but the Nemesis blows it up and infects Jill with one of his tentacles before Carlos defeats him and brings Jill to a church for shelter.

 

On September 29, 1998 Leon and Claire enter the city. Leon has come to be integrated into the Raccoon City Police Department and Claire has come looking for her brother Chris (who traveled to Europe it turns out, with remaining S.T.A.R.S. members to take down Umbrella there). They are shocked to find the city overun with monsters and team up to get out of the city agreeing to head to the Police Station. There Claire finds Sherry Birkin (William Birkin's daughter) and Leon meets up with Ada (an Asian spy sent in by Wesker to retrieve the G-virus for him). Umbrella has also sent a T-103 Tyrant in to hunt down Sherry for the pendant around her neck which contains a sample of the G-virus while Claire continually meets up with Sherry's dad who mutates with every encounter and impregnates Sherry with a G-embryo (as only blood relatives to the host can accept a G embryo and mutate genetically with it). Ada eventually finds the pendant but is shot by Sherry's mother causing her to fall over the edge of a catwalk after telling Leon she had fallen in love with him. Enraged, Leon throws the pendant far off into the sewers where HUNK wakes up with it and makes his escape. Leon then starts up a train (which Claire had left Sherry at) and, with help from Ada who had "died", defeats the Tyrant finally. Claire and Leon finally meet back up in the train and administer a vaccine for the G Embryo. Before they can fully escape though, a severly mutated William Birkin invades the train causing the occupants to evacuate and make a mad dash for the end of the tunnel leading out of the city as the train explodes from a countermeasure self destruct sequence in case it was contaminated taking William with it. Ada then obtains the sample of the G-virus from Birkin's remains and heads back to wear she was to meet her contact in the city.

 

On the night of the 1st of October Carlos heads off and finds a vaccine for the T-virus Jill was infected with discovering the Nicholai had betrayed the group while in the hospital the vaccine is in. Discovering that the hosptial had been rigged with bombs he escapes with the vaccine and gives it to Jill still intent on getting out of the city. Encoutering Nemesis a few more times (now with his limiter trench coat ripped off revealing tons of tentacles) the duo make it to a factory Umbrella had been disposing of specimens at. Carlos signals for a helicopter while Jill deals with Nemesis and Nicholai (who explains that the less people that survived when the group returned to Umbrella, the more the surviving members would get paid and that Umbrella wanted Jill killed off for their own reasons (for being a member of S.T.A.R.S.)). Nicholai escapes and Jill finishes off Nemesis with a plasma cannon the US Military had set up to battle the Tyrants Umbrella had sent in. She and Carlos fly away in an escape helicopter piloted by Barry Burton (who wanted to make up for his betrayal in the Research Facility (Wesker had threatened to kill his family if he didn't decieve Jill)) as the city explodes behind them from a military strike while Ada escapes on a helicopter carrying Sergei and the Red Queen Database with the G-virus ready to give to Wesker in hand.

 

Later that year on December 27 in Europe Claire continues looking for her brother only to be captured by Umbrella and transported to Rockfort island owned by Alfred Ashford (who believes he is his sister at times). Wesker leads a group of the organization he's now working for to assault the island looking for the T-Veronica Virus causing an outbreak of the T-virus. Claire meets up with a prisoner Steve and they begin to have feelings about each other and eventually escape the island together after Claire sends a message of help to Leon (who's now working for the government after turning Sherry over to an agent offering the job who gives her to Wesker) but are redirected by computer with Alfed in control to the Antartic Facility. A few hours later Chris arrives on the island and meets up with Wesker who attempts to kill him but is interrupted when he spots Alexia (whom a dying Alfred awakened in the Artic) laughing on a computer screen nearby. Chris then makes it to the Artic via plane.

 

Claire and Steve both continue to look for a way out (downing the now severly mutated Edward Ashford in the process). Wesker (having just arrived in the Antartic via submarine) meets up with Alexia and demands the T-Veronica Virus. In a split second the woman morphs before his eyes into a humanoid insect-like being and attacks. Wesker then spots Chris and has him and Alexia battle while he makes a tactical retreat. Soon thereafter Alexia captures Steve and injects him with the T-Veronica Virus causing him to mutate into a hulking beast after Claire finds him. In the end though, he can't bring himself to kill Claire and reverts back to his human self dying in the process. Finally Claire and Chris meet up and Claire goes off to start a jet while Chris finishes off Alexia. Wesker (who has taken Steve's body for the T-Veronica Virus) however, has captured Claire and frees her only when Chris has arrived. She once again goes off to start the jet as the two ex-S.T.A.R.S. members battle. It ends in a draw and both Wesker and Chris make it out of the facility alive as it explodes behind them (with Claire being with Chris).

 

By the year 2003 Jill and Chris have joined an international group dedicated to stopping groups like Umbrella and they lead an assault on the final real facility in Russia lead by Sergei Vladmir while Wesker infiltrates it as well searching for Sergei in particular. Chris and Jill make it to the core of the facility where Sergei unleashes the finalized version of T.A.L.O.S. on them, the ultimate Tyrant. Being a cyborg Tyrant with the Red Queen controlling its mind a long battle ensues while Wesker battles Sergei who mutates from what is hinted to be Wesker's Virus in the room the Red Queen is operating from. As Jill and Chris finish the Tyrant Project for good Wesker steals the Red Queen's information and deletes the database leaving nothing behind for Umbrella to be recreated upon. Afterwards Jill and Chris's group cleans up the facility while Wesker reports everything Umbrella has done to the Russian government making the only remaining founder, Spencer, a fugitive who goes into hiding.

 

Some time later Osmund Saddler has Salazar unearth the ancient Las Plagas which infect the spanish village they were burried under. They kidnap the President of the United State's daughter planning to infect her and send her back. Leon S. Kennedy is sent in to retrieve her and meets up with Ada once again who is working with Krauser to obtain Las Plagas for Wesker. Krauser is eventually killed by the combined efforts of Leon and Ada and Leon wipes out the Saddler ending the threat of the plagas. Ada however, escapes with samples of the plagas and sends Wesker a fake sample while keeping the real ones for a company she's betraying Wesker for while Leon rides off towards America with the President's daughter.

 

Degeneration and Resident Evil 5 happen after that. This is all we know so far in Resident Evil history that matters.

I just read they are thinking of making a 4th movie and a CG full length film... which would be like a dream come true!

It would be called Resident Evil: Afterlife and the CG would be called Resident Evil Degeneration.

"In July 2005, the producers openly discussed the possibility of following Extinction with a sequel titled Resident Evil: Afterlife, with the announcement of plans to shoot and set the film in Tokyo, Japan. During the film's production, actor Chris Durand stated that talks were held to set the film in Alaska during the winter time.

 

In September 2006, it was announced that casting had been underway for Resident Evil 4, and that Jensen Ackles was in talks for portraying Leon Kennedy. However, bringing Leon as a character in an upcoming film would contradict promotional information from Resident Evil: Apocalypse. Screen Gems created a faux newspaper, The Raccoon City Times, that detailed the background of Jill Valentine, and included that she was dismissed from the S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Squad) after the death of her partner, Leon Kennedy. During an interview with Bloody Disgusting, while promoting Extinction, Ali Larter confirmed she would reprise her role "100% if asked". Oded Fehr jokingly mentioned if his character was to return for a new film, he would have to be cloned like Milla's character in Extinction. Despite Resident Evil: Extinction being billed on the official website and elsewhere as the final installment of the Resident Evil film series, Rory Bruer, Sony's head of distribution explained, "It absolutely would not surprise me considering the success of the franchise that they find a way to come up with another. It's a real possibility". In an October 18, 2007 interview with IGN regarding the continuation of the franchise, however, producer Jeremy Bolt said, "It's not our intention [to make a follow-up to Extinction]. But we've been very pleased that the third part of the franchise has done so well.Paul Anderson has reported that there is a possibility of a fourth film and is talking to Sony about it."

 

On October 29, 2007, Capcom announced the start of production on, Resident Evil: Degeneration, a full-length CG animation film based on the Resident Evil game series. The film is estimated for a 2008 release and features an entirely new storyline, speculated as being canonical with the game series. A 60-second sneak peek of the film was included on the DVD and Blu Ray release for Resident Evil: Extinction which was released in January 2008.

 

On July 1, 2008, Paul Anderson announced a fourth live action film is in early development stages and negotiations have begun with Sony."

I enjoyed the movies quite a bit myself, though it could be because I've not played the games and don't know whether or not they're being butchered by the movies. Also, I have a thing for super-soldiers and zombies and whatnot.

i played them when i was little...i was to scared to play some of the levels
